We don't recommend it, and in most cases we won't do it. Pouring over an existing slab traps moisture, raises the grade at your garage and sidewalk transitions, and hides underlying problems. A full tear-out and proper sub-base prep is the only way to ensure the new driveway performs long-term.

We typically recommend waiting at least 7 days before driving on a new concrete driveway, and 28 days before parking heavy vehicles. Concrete cures over time and early loading can cause surface damage or cracking. We'll give you specific guidance based on weather conditions at the time of your pour.

The most common causes are freeze-thaw cycling, poor sub-base preparation, missing or misplaced control joints, and overloading. Iowa winters are particularly hard on concrete. A properly prepared sub-base, correct concrete mix, and well-placed control joints dramatically reduce cracking over the life of the driveway.

Yes. We offer smooth trowel finish, brushed broom finish, exposed aggregate, and stamped patterns. The right finish depends on your goals. Brushed is the most common for traction, while stamped adds visual appeal. We'll walk you through options during the estimate.
