Basement Waterproofing

Exterior waterproofing addresses water at the outside of the foundation wall, applying a membrane and improving drainage before water ever enters the structure. Interior systems manage water that has already gotten in, channeling it to a sump system and out of the basement. Both approaches have their place, and the right solution depends on where and how water is entering.

Crack injection seals active leaks directly and is a standard part of many waterproofing scopes. However, if a crack is caused by structural movement or pressure, sealing the crack alone may not be a permanent solution. We evaluate the cause of each crack before recommending whether injection alone is sufficient or whether structural repair is also needed.

You can test your sump pump by slowly pouring water into the pit until the float triggers the pump. The pump should activate, drain the pit, and shut off automatically. If it doesn't activate, runs continuously, or makes unusual noise, it's time for service or replacement. We install and can assess existing sump systems as part of our waterproofing work.

A properly installed interior drainage system with a quality sump pump is designed to manage water indefinitely. The system is always working as long as it's maintained. Exterior membranes and crack injections can last 20 or more years. Like any system, periodic inspection and sump pump maintenance are important to ensure long-term performance.
